CM LABS: KAYO

Welcome back to another installment of our series about CM Labs, a program helping employees not to be torn between their main duties and pet-projects and bring their ideas to life.

Today, we want to share the story behind KAYO, a fitness boxing game that began its journey in CM Labs but has since grown into an independent project, forging its path beyond our walls!

Picture this: you, in your living room, throwing punches to the beat of your favorite tracks. Sounds good, right? Well, that's KAYO for you – a game that turns your boxing workout into a dance party, minus the sweaty club floors.

So, how does it work? Simple! Your hands become the controllers as you synchronize your movements with the beat of different music tracks. The computer vision tech ensures precision tracking of your performance, as you progress through different levels of intensity. And with an endless playlist from Epidemic Sound (a Swedish company providing royalty-free soundtracks globally), you can switch from smooth synth-pop vibes to full-on drum and bass fury in a heartbeat.

The inspiration for KAYO's creation came from a simple question: how can we create an active gaming experience without the need for VR technology?

Sergey Konovalov, the visionary behind KAYO, decided to explore this concept, merging physical activity with the psychological liberation of boxing.

After a bit of tinkering in CM Labs (and a few rounds of expert feedback), Sergey and the team got the green light to take KAYO to the next level. Now a team consisting of a UX designer, programmer and content manager continues to develop and polish the app: the plan is to introduce AI generated content to make the user experience even more diverse.

We wish the team every success, and urge you to join its Discord and test the early-adopters build.

Trust us, your body (and your playlist) will thank you later!
