NNWT DEV DIARY #3

Event System 2.0

Hi Racers,

How’s your end of the year going? Ours has been pretty packed, and here’s why:

First up, we’ve revamped the upgrade system, dividing it into 15 stages (with Stage 15 saved for a future feature). This means you can now improve your car more consistently and make smarter upgrade choices. To make things even clearer, practically each stage comes with a brief pop-up explaining how it affects your car’s performance.

Oh, and we’ve also adjusted upgrade costs to match these changes.

As for tuning features, they will now unlock as you progress through the upgrade tree. For example, Nitrous tuning becomes available after upgrading Nitrous to Stage 5.

We're also working on rebalancing cars and their stat modifiers to make them more competitive across tiers. The overall hierarchy will stay the same (your Zenvo will still outperform your Mazda), but upgrades will offer more flexibility, allowing even D-class cars to become worthy rivals on the track when tuned wisely. While this isn’t in the build yet, it will be included in upcoming versions.

And that brings us to the highlight of this release—the new event system, which lets you compete with cars from different tiers and adds more variety to the gameplay. Events will now be theme-based—focusing on specific brands or showcasing those sleek cars we all admired from the 90s. You’ll also race against your opponent’s car, specifically the one they used in their previous race.
Here’s how events work:

  • They’ll run on both weekdays (lasting 4–5 days) and weekends, giving you plenty of chances to join in.

  • Each event comes with its own energy system, starting with 5 energy points.

  • Entering an event costs 1 energy point. Once you run out, you’ll need to wait for energy to restore—or use gold to refill your event’s energy pool back to 5.

And one more thing: for those already tired of waiting to catch those Christmas vibes, you can now stick a Christmas tree on your car’s roof (don’t worry—it’s completely optional)!

That’s all for now (this year).

We’d love to hear your thoughts and impressions, so don’t hesitate to share. In the meantime, we wish you the coolest holiday season.

Race hard and stay safe!
